Junior Wheelies Christmas Camp 2007
After an exciting year of junior sport in NSW, the 2007 Junior Sports Program has wrapped up with the spectacular Junior Wheelies Christmas Camp (Narrabeen – December 7-9, 2007)
Camp 2007 marked the 25th anniversary of the Christmas Camp with a record number of campers! A massive 35 junior campers attend the Sydney Academy of Sport (Narrabeen) for 2 ½ days of action packed sports fun and games.
This year the program featured all WS NSW sports, NSW Sport and Rec activities (Archery and Canoeing), and Christmas fun including No Talent Time and Christmas Karaoke.
Juniors strutted their stuff centre stage in No-Talent Time, where each group worked together to rehearse, create costumes and perform a skit in front of their fellow campers.
For each sport, WS NSW members and affiliated coaches attended to run the session, share their experiences and achievements and make sure each camper had a chance to try every sport, including:
- Archery – Cain Beckett, Basketball – Kylie Gauci & Richard Engles, Lawn Bowls – Doug Lambert & Jim Newton, Handcycling - Errol Hyde, Track and Field – Ben Towers, Rugby – Judy Simpson & Andrew Edmonson, Powerlifting – Paul Waters & Craig Ryan, Table Tennis - Joy Boyd, Swimming – Sandra Holder, Michael Auprince & Matt Levy, and Tennis – Michael Connell & Richard Engles
- In 2007, more than 45 camp volunteers (Camp Nurse, Camp Helpers, Sports Coaches and Camp Carers) were involved, travelling to the Camp from all over metropolitan and regional NSW. Many thanks to each volunteer for their contribution to the Camp; Camp 2007 saw larger participant numbers than past years so meant all systems go all weekend!
