Powerlifting

Powerlifting is a bench-press competition first introduced to disability sport in the 2nd Paralympic Games in 1964. Powerlifting caters for athletes with a variety of disabilities and run to identical rules as those in able-bodied powerlifting events.

In powerlifting, athletes with amputations and other (Les Autres) disabilities compete together against athletes with Cerebral Palsy, wheelchair athletes and short stature athletes, divided into one of 10 weight categories for men and 10 weight categories for women.
