Table Tennis
High speed and quick reactions are very evident in all aspects of Table Tennis as players use the same world-class techniques as their non-disabled colleagues.
Table tennis competitions are grouped in standing, wheelchair and intellectually disabled events with men and women competing individually as well as in team events. Athletes from all disability groups participate and compete in one of 11 classes. One match consists of five sets each being played until eleven points have been reached. The rules set out by the International Table Tennis Federation also apply to the Paralympic Table Tennis competitions with slight modifications for wheelchair athletes.
The Table Tennis classification system is comprised of 10 functional classification classes and one class for athletes with intellectual disability.
