                                                                            Tournament Information
                                                                            2012 GIO Sydney International Wheelchair Tennis Open will be played from Friday 20 to Tuesday 24 January. 

                                                                            Spectator Entry Free - Come & support our Aussies! Don your green and gold, join us at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre to support our Aussies as they take on the world!

                                                                            The Event 
                                                                            • 2012 will be the 24th year of the Sydney International Wheelchair Tennis Open, hosted by Tennis NSW in conjunction with Wheelchair Sports NSW.
                                                                            • The Tournament will be played from Friday 20 to Tuesday 24 January 2012. The event is an ITF Super Series Tournament on the NEC International Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
                                                                            • There are 7 draws for players to enter:
                                                                              • Main Draw/Second Draw Men singles
                                                                              • Main Draw Women singles
                                                                              • Main Draw Men doubles
                                                                              • Main Draw Women doubles
                                                                              • Consolation division
                                                                              • Quad
                                                                              • Junior
                                                                            • Over the past few years, the tournament has featured players representing 21 countries, including Men’s World No 1 Shingo Kuneida (JPN) and Women’s World No 1 Esther Vergeer (NED). Over 70% of the field are international players
                                                                            • The 2012 GIO Sydney International Wheelchair Tennis Open will have a total prize pool of USD $35,000
                                                                            • Play commences from 9.00am each day. Entry to the Tournament is FREE at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre, Rod Laver Drive, Sydney Olympic Park. Some shade will be available on the Tournament’s Show court for all spectators.
                                                                            • Men’s and Women’s Main Draw Singles and doubles will conclude on the 23rd January to allow players competing in the Australian Open time to travel to Melbourne.
                                                                            • Wheelchair Sports NSW again plans to conduct a mentoring “Come n Try” clinic for junior/beginner “wheelies” on Sunday 23rd January at 9.30am.
